Goal

Regulate the nervous system before a hard activity (school, dinner, sleep).

What you'll need

  • A wall, a couch cushion, and a laundry basket

Step by step

  1. 1

    Wall push-ups: 10 reps. Hands on wall, body angled, push.

  2. 2

    Cushion squish: child lies under a couch cushion while you press gently and count to 20.

  3. 3

    Laundry basket pull: load it with books or toys; child pulls it across the room.

  4. 4

    Bear walk: across the room on hands and feet. Twice.

  5. 5

    Big bear hug. Long, slow squeeze.

Add a mini trampoline, weighted blanket, or chewy snack to extend the regulation effect.
